Seven Norwegian Companies Visit Virginia Beach Ahead of 2025 IPF Conference
The Virginia Beach Economic Development (VBED) office welcomed a Norwegian delegation to the region last week to discuss offshore wind initiatives and economic collaboration in advance of this spring’s International Partnering Forum 2025, which VBED is hosting.
Representatives from seven Norwegian companies, led by Norwegian Energy Partners’ Jørgen Brandt Theodorsen and Andy Geissbuehler, attended the visit, aimed to foster transatlantic partnerships in the growing offshore wind sector.
The delegation participated in presentations from Dominion Energy and Avangrid, two major players in U.S. offshore wind development. These presentations highlighted ongoing projects and upcoming opportunities within Virginia’s offshore wind market, providing Norwegian companies insight into local and regional project landscapes. Each company also presented their capabilities and expertise, enhancing connections with potential U.S. partners.
These visits will culminate with the IPF, a prominent global event attracting leaders in renewable energy, April 28-May 1, 2025, at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
“Our region is well positioned to support international collaboration in offshore wind,” said Natalie Guilmeus, deputy director of VBED. “This visit represents the start of many future exchanges, as we build momentum leading up to the 2025 IPF in Virginia Beach.” As part of the visit, the delegation also received a regional overview from the Hampton Roads Alliance and an introduction to services provided by VBED, underscoring the region's support for continued foreign investment and trade partnerships.
The visit is among a series of delegations that will strengthen international business ties and accelerate Virginia’s role as a leader in offshore wind innovation and sustainable energy.
