Personal protective equipment manufacturer to invest $5.25 million to expand manufacturing capabilities

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (October 8, 2020) — Today Governor Ralph Northam announced that Premium-PPE, a manufacturer of masks and personal protective equipment, will invest $5.25 million for additional equipment to increase manufacturing capacity and expand its operation in the City of Virginia Beach. As part of this expansion, the company will create 180 new jobs.

Premium-PPE is a subsidiary of PremiumEstore, LLC and a leading manufacturer and distributor of consumer products to customer worldwide. In March 2020, the company secured high-volume contracts and proactively began focusing on the production of personal protective equipment, disposable face and surgical masks. The company is on track to manufacture and ship over 20 million disposable masks each month out of its Virginia Beach facility.

"We are thrilled with the quality and work ethic of the Virginia Beach workforce," said Vitali Servutas, CEO, Premium – PPE. "I can say with 100% certainty that we could not have grown as quickly as we have without our fantastic employees. We've shipped millions of masks and I can count on less than one-hand the number of customer issues we've had. That's purely a testament to the work ethic, attention to detail and prideful work our folks put in every day."

The City of Virginia Beach Economic Development Authority will provide Premium-PPE with an Economic Development Investment Program grant of $108,000. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership will be supporting this company through their Virginia Jobs Investment Program (VJIP). VJIP provides consultative services and funding to companies creating new jobs in order to support employee recruitment and training activities.

"I was fortunate enough to tour this facility in the early days of its change to manufacturing masks and was impressed with the overall operation," said Virginia Beach Mayor Robert M. "Bobby" Dyer. "Because Premium-PPE responded so quickly to an emergent need, it is making an important contribution to the greater effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and the 180 jobs it is adding are a tremendous win, especially in this economy."

The mission of the Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development is to attract and retain national and international businesses to stimulate capital investment and create jobs.
