215 Gear Relocates and Expands Operations in Virginia Beach

Trident Security and Holdings, doing business as 215 Gear, will relocate its operations to 2501 Encounter Court in the Oceana South Industrial Park in Virginia Beach. The company manufactures and distributes tactical nylon gear for the military. 215 Gear is a certified Small, Women and Minority-owned business that was established in 2007.215 Gear will relocate existing operations from Taylor Farm Road in Virginia Beach to a new industrial warehouse. This relocation and expansion in the YesOceana corridor will provide a better platform for the company’s continued growth.The company will purchase the 7,000 square-foot facility in the business park with a capital investment of $725,727 in real estate and machinery and tools. “This business corridor is finding a host of compatible businesses interested in the advantages it provides and proximity to other businesses,” said Warren D. Harris, director of Virginia Beach Economic Development. “215 Gear is another advanced manufacturer that is now able to expand and establish an even bigger footprint in the City.”The Virginia Beach Development Authority has awarded 215 Gear an APZ-1 Economic Development Investment Program grant in the amount of $30,000 based on the company’s capital investment.The YesOceana program was established in response to the Base Realignment and Closure Commission’s recommendation to close NAS Oceana in 2005. The innovative program moves nonconforming businesses out of APZ-1 and recruits businesses that meet zoning and conformity specifications into the area. It is the only program of its kind in the country, and YesOceana now serves as a model for other localities facing problems with encroachment around air installations.The mission of the Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development is to attract and retain national and international businesses to stimulate capital investment and create jobs.
