Avis Budget Group announced plans to relocate and hire 17 additional employees at their existing Virginia Beach. Located at 300 Centre Pointe Drive, the company has operated its national car rental processing center and regional headquarters in Virginia Beach since 1995.

Headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey, Avis Budget Group is a leading global provider of vehicle rental services with more than 10,000 rental locations in 175 countries. In March 2013, the company acquired the Boston-based ZipCar brand, the world’s leading car sharing network with more than 790,000 members. This acquisition will result in the company shifting personnel from Boston to both their Parsippany and Virginia Beach locations.

“Avis Budget Group is committed to providing value to our corporate clients and individual customers, and to those colleagues who rely on us for leadership or support,” said Larry Weinstein, Regional President. “We are committed to finding innovative ways to fuel the growth of our individual brands. The acquisition of ZipCar and strategic relocation of these positions will greatly assist in ensuring that our Virginia Beach regional headquarters continues to serve as an integral part of the Avis family.”

The company plans to relocate 12 Senior-level insurance examiner, 1 Senior Manager, and 4 Staff accountant positions to Virginia Beach. Staff currently occupying these positions in New Jersey will be given the option to relocate. These 17 new positions have an average annual salary of $60,000.

“Avis Budget Group has been a valued corporate citizen in Virginia Beach for nearly two decades,” said Warren Harris, director of Virginia Beach Economic Development. “We are thrilled that they are continuing to add personnel to their regional headquarters operation and are continuing to grow and expand their corporate brand.”

The Virginia Beach Development Authority has awarded the company an Economic Development Investment Program grant in the amount of $40,000 based on their plans to hire 17 new employees with average annual salaries of $60,000.
