VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (May 16, 2018) — Seigler Reels, currently located at 1026 Jessie Dupont Memorial Highway, Burgess, Va. in the Northern Neck, will move and expand its manufacturing operations to 1352 Taylor Farm Road in Oceana South Industrial Park, Virginia Beach.
Seigler Reels, established in 2010, manufactures, assembles and distributes 10 models of performance fishing reels to U.S. and international retailers. The company is known for its high-quality reels that are light and strong, with the smoothest, most powerful drags and highest line capacities available. All reels are backed by a lifetime warranty.
"Seigler Reels is doubling in size and will bring a high-quality manufacturing operation to Virginia Beach and relocate six jobs here while creating six to 12 new full-time positions with salaries exceeding $37,000," said Virginia Beach Economic Development Director Warren D. Harris.
The manufacturing operation aligns with the YesOceana goal to attract compatible businesses to the APZ-1 commercial zones. The company has leased the property and will upgrade the existing 8,000-square-foot warehouse and 1.59-acre site by July 2018.
Seigler Reels will make a capital investment of $975,000 including real estate improvements, business property, machinery and tools. The Virginia Beach Development Authority has approved an APZ-1 Economic Development Investment Program grant in the amount of $55,000 based on its investment. This was a competitive project, and the grant funds helped to secure Virginia Beach as the preferred location.
"The quality of life and what Virginia Beach has to offer in terms of recreation, schools and opportunities for business and families are very compelling," said Wes Seigler, president of Seigler Reels. "We believe the beach community will embrace what we do and support the product by buying locally made, high-quality reels at the many local tackle shops. I love the area and want to continue to live and work near the water. Virginia Beach also has the potential to offer us other opportunities in the machining manufacturing industry."
All Seigler reels are made in the U.S. with the highest-quality, U.S.-made, components and craftsmanship. For more information, visit https://www.seigler.fish/.
