Stock Design and Machine Inc. Expands Machine Operations

Stock Design and Machine Inc., a full-service machining company, will expand operations in Virginia Beach. The company was established in 2015 by Robert J. Stock, a former Navy SEAL and mechanical engineer. The company is certified as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business.Stock Design and Machine Inc. is a full-service computer numerical control (CNC) machine shop with some of the industries’ most accurate and fastest CNC tools in a temperature-controlled manufacturing space. The company serves a range of industries, which include aerospace, gas and oil, and military special operations forces to produce turnkey manufacturing, machining, design, engineering services, light assembly and fabrication.The company recently secured two significant contracts and needs to expand operations to accommodate this new work and growth. The contracts include work for General Plasma, which manufactures plasma coating lines for automobile plants around the world, and NCC Automation Systems, which builds conveyor systems for companies like Amazon Fulfillment Centers.The company is located in the YesOceana corridor at 2500 Squadron Ct., units 106 and 107. With the acquisition of new machinery and tools, Stock Design and Machine Inc. will expand its current machining operations and accommodate even more growth.“This is an ideal business for this vibrant business corridor,” said Warren D. Harris, director of Virginia Beach Economic Development. “The company is on a trajectory path and aligns perfectly with our advanced manufacturing industry sector.”The Virginia Beach Development Authority has awarded Stock Design and Machine Inc. an APZ-1 Economic Development Investment Program grant in the amount of $20,000 based on the company’s capital investment of $995,000. The YesOceana program was established in response to the Base Realignment and Closure Commission’s recommendation to close NAS Oceana in 2005. The innovative program moves nonconforming businesses out of APZ-1 and recruits businesses that meet zoning and conformity specifications into the area. It is the only program of its kind in the country, and YesOceana now serves as a model for other localities facing problems with encroachment around air installations.The mission of the Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development is to attract and retain national and international businesses to stimulate capital investment and create jobs.
