Urban League of Hampton Roads Relocates Headquarters to Virginia Beach

The Urban League of Hampton Roads, Inc. (ULHR) has relocated its headquarters from Portsmouth to 5700 Thurston Avenue in the Airport Industrial Park of Virginia Beach. The expansion will allow the organization to create 10 new jobs.

The Urban League of Hampton Roads, Inc. helps minority groups and others secure economic self-reliance by providing services and programs in education, employment, health, and housing. The non-profit organization serves more than 10,000 people each year in the region. The Urban League of Hampton Roads has assisted in saving more than 1,000 homes from foreclosure. Over the past three years, the agency has provided housing services to more than 500 people in Virginia Beach. Of those, 276 families were provided with foreclosure counseling, and 179 homes were saved from foreclosure.

In addition to the headquarters, the Urban League has operations in Norfolk, Hampton and in Virginia Beach at 875 Baker Road at Ebenezer Baptist Church. The new headquarters comprises 8,076 square feet to accommodate the agency’s current 20 employees. Urban League will create 10 new jobs with salaries that range from $35,001 to $50,000.

The Virginia Beach Economic Development Authority has authorized an Economic Development Investment Program grant of $20,000 based on the capital investment of $75,000 and the 10 new jobs.

This new location will enable them to significantly expand their mission of service to the people of Hampton Roads.”
