Young Veteran’s Brewing Company Expands to 8,000 SF Five New Jobs in Virginia Beach

September 20, 2016
Young Veteran's Brewing Company, established in Virginia Beach in 2012, will triple the size of its footprint in Virginia Beach. The location at 2505 Horse Pasture Road currently comprises 2,000 square feet. It will expand by an additional 6,000 square feet, and the company will add five new jobs in the City. The expansion will include a 750-square-foot tasting room, a 400-square-foot cooler, office space, manufacturing space, storage space and a copper art shop. The brewery was started by two U.S. Army veterans with a passion for beer. The brewery hours are Tuesday to Thursday 3 pm to 8 pm; Friday 3 pm to 11 pm; Saturday noon to 11 pm and Sunday 3 pm to 8 pm. This greatly expanded capacity will allow the brewery to produce its popular Pineapple Grenade, G.I. Pilsner, Semper Fi.P.A., Night Vision and Jet Noise products in canned six-packs in addition to draft distribution throughout the region. The Virginia Beach Development Authority has awarded an Economic Development Investment Program grant in the amount of $20,000 based on the company's capital investment of $700,000, which includes real estate improvements, business property and machinery and tools. "We salute the owners of Young Veteran's Brewing Company and look forward to the expanded brewing capacity," said Economic Development Director Warren D. Harris. "Obviously, the community has supported this brewery as they have the nine others in the City. And, we anticipate this expansion will only help the company grow." "As longtime natives of Virginia Beach and the second brewery in the city, we are proud to be expanding within our hometown," said Tom Wilder, president. "We met at and graduated from Kellam High School just a few miles away before leaving to serve in the military. The satisfaction we receive from being a contributing member of the local business community makes us glad that we're staying right here. We plan to continue to grow, increase our economic impact, and contribute back to this city we love."The mission of the Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development is to attract and retain national and international businesses to stimulate capital investment and create jobs. Virginia Beach is the most populous city in Virginia with a population of 450,000, and it is the 37th largest in the United States.
